MacGregor Downs is annually rated as one of the best courses in the southeastern United States because of the impeccable playing conditions. Bentgrass greens, tree-lined Bermuda fairways, four sets of tee boxes plus four additional hybrid layouts, renovated bunkers and cart paths, multiple water hazards, and the signature 18th hole provide a perfect round of golf on this winding course where no two holes are adjacent.

MacGregor Downs played host to the Liggett & Myers PGA Tour Match Play Championships in the early 1970s, and currently hosts the PCA Children’s Flight of Hope Charity Tournament each year. The golf course was designed by Willard Byrd, one of America’s leading golf course architects. Some of the greatest names in golf have walked its fairways, including Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Lee Trevino. In more recent years, the Club has hosted current greats such as Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, David Duval and Davis Love III. 

New members have numerous opportunities to meet and join other members on the links. Tee times are set aside for scrambles on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays to allow single players to be grouped together. A wide variety of club tournaments are scheduled each year, catering to the diverse needs of the golf membership. The Tartan, MacGregor’s member-guest tournament, is one of the premier golf and social events in the area. The club also has an active junior golf program for children, starting from age six. Your practice needs are met with a large driving range, two putting greens and a practice chipping area.

Ben Hynson, Director of Golf, has earned the PGA Master Professional designation. The golf pro shop is fully stocked with the latest equipment, demo clubs, golf apparel and gift items. Services available include private lessons on the driving range, playing lessons, video lessons, club fitting, group clinics and half-day golf schools. The pro shop offers an automated handicap system, club storage and club cleaning. The golf professional staff is here to meet your every golfing need.
